There's a beer in my parts washer!! And a ShockTop at that....mmmuuuuumnm....good.

I ended up taking the engine all the way down. There was nick in the crank and it scarred the bearings. Shame on my for not using Plastigauge my bearings the first time to check them for size. I ended up having the crank turned 0.10 under with new bearings so I know it will be right this time.

I've heard that rings don't turn in the cylinders but I'm here to tell you that I had one do that. I am very careful to turn the rings 180 degrees from each other to make sure the gaps don't ever line up. One apparently turned to line up and I was getting
blow by into the crank case which resulted in oil on the engine out the breather cap and the PCV valve. What a pain.

The pic of the crank in the block is before I pulled it out. The wooden stick is where the nick in the crank resides. It looks like it was hit at one time from the push rods but it had to be from when the engine was assembled before I got it. The block is a 1979 and the heads are 1980. It was bored 0.30 over when I got it.
